2023-2024 Financial Aid Levels

All Arizona Christian University scholarships require students to be enrolled full-time and maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (unless otherwise noted). Scholarships listed on this website are available to students who will begin classes at ACU in Fall 2023. Students starting at ACU in the Spring 2023 semester are encouraged to contact the ACU Admissions Department at [email protected] for any questions regarding scholarship eligibility.

Merit Scholarships

A merit scholarship is based on a student’s proven scholastic ability. All scholarship offers are based on the student’s unweighted High School GPA, through the 6th semester. All merit scholarships are renewable for up to 4 years (8 consecutive semesters) and are reviewed at the end of every Spring semester.

Freedom Works Scholarships

Freedom Works at Arizona Christian University offers students a courageously Christian education with the potential to cover tuition & fees. Students fund their education through academic scholarships, on-campus employment, federal grants, and ACU Freedom Works grants.

FUNDING
The cost of a full year of ACU tuition and University fees is $34,697.

  • Freedom Works Credit: $6,400/20 hours a week (32 weeks)
  • Pell Grant: $650 – $6,895
  • SEOG Grant: $0 – $1,000
  • ACU Scholarships*: $1,500 – $14,000
  • ACU Freedom Works Grant: $0 – $26,140 *

 

REQUIREMENTS
Must be admitted to Arizona Christian University

  1. Must apply for Financial Aid and be “Pell Grant Eligible”
  2. Must work at least 20 hours/week for 16 weeks/semester
  3. Must have and retain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 while at Arizona Christian University

 

Honors Scholarships

All students who accept an honors scholarship are required to live on campus.

To be considered for one of the following scholarships, first-time incoming freshmen must fill out ACU’s Honors Application and receive an invitation to participate in the Honors Event. o fill out the Honors Application, students must be accepted to ACU with an unweighted High School GPA of 3.75 or higher and submission of their official SAT or ACT score. These scholarships are limited and offered to students based on interview performance, academic performance, servant leadership qualities, and other factors. Students should submit their official ACT or SAT scores, a resume, and letters of recommendation as part of their honors application. President’s Scholarship (Full Tuition, renewable for up to 4 years)

Requirement – Minimum 3.75 unweighted, cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA* – 3.7

Provost’s Scholarship (85% of full time tuition each year, renewable for up to 4 years)

Requirement – Minimum 3.75 unweighted, cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA* – 3.5

Dean’s Scholarship (75% of full time tuition each year, renewable for up to 4 years)

Requirement – Minimum 3.75 unweighted, cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA* – 3.5

 

Academic Scholarships

Firestorm Academic Excellence Award ($14,000 a year, renewable for up to 4 years)

Academic scholarships are calculated based GPA.
Requirement – Minimum 3.6 unweighted, cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA*  – 3.0

ACU Scholar Award ($12,000 a year, renewable for up to 4 years)

Academic scholarships are calculated based on GPA.
Requirement – Minimum 3.25 unweighted, cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA* – 2.75

Faculty Award ($10,000 a year, renewable for up to 4 years)

Academic scholarships are calculated based on GPA.
Requirement – Minimum 3.0 unweighted, cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA* – 2.5

 

Transfer Scholarships

Transfer Scholar Award ($10,000 per year)

Requirements – Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA* – 3.0

Transfer Achievement Award ($8,000 per year)

Requirements – 3.0-3.49 cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA* – 2.5

Transfer Academic Award ($6,000 per year)

Requirements – 2.5-2.99 cumulative GPA
Renewal GPA* – 2.0

*Renewal GPA is defined as the cumulative GPA a student must maintain while attending ACU in order to renew their scholarship for the following school year.

Athletic Scholarships

A student-athlete’s full institutional scholarship package is determined by the athletic department. The student-athlete will be offered a scholarship based on an evaluation of the following:

  1. Achievements in the classroom
  2. Assessment of his/her contribution to the team
  3. Leadership qualities aligning with the university mission

Music Scholarships

These audition-based annual scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional musical talent. Vocal and instrumental scholarships are available and awarded on an audition-basis only. The scholarships are subject to review at the end of each Spring semester.

Scholarships range from $1,500 to $3,000 per year.

 

Band & Symphonic Winds Scholarships

Band Scholarship ($1,500 per year)
  • Stackable with other scholarships including athletic, Honors, and Freedom Works scholarships up to tuition and fees.
  • Students participate in the pep band for athletics, university, and community events
  • Scholarship awarded to students at student’s entrance term to ACU. 
  • Scholarships added to current ACU students only at fall terms. 

Renewal Requirements:

  • Renewal GPA* – 2.0
  • Students must maintain continuous band membership for scholarship renewal.
Symphonic Winds Scholarship 

Scholarship Amounts:

  1. First year member: $3000 for the year
  2. Second year member: $3500 for the year
  3. Third year member: $4000 for the year
  4. Fourth year member: $5000 for the year

 

  • Covers up to tuition and fees
  • Not stackable with Athletic, Honors, Freedom Works, or Music scholarships
  • Audition required for award. Contact the Music Department to schedule an audition.
  • As band members and scholarship awardees, students play at university and community events

Renewal Requirements

  • 2.5 ACU GPA Requirement 
  • Continuous membership required to advance to the next scholarship tier. Scholarship years are years of continuous membership in Symphonic Winds not class level (e.g. Freshman, Sophomore, etc.)
  • Band director, or designee, sends member list to Recruiter/EMS/Financial Aid for initial award subsequent academic terms.

Association of Classical Christian Schools Scholarship

ACU is a college affiliate with the Association of Classical Christian Schools. The ACU ACCS Scholarship is designed to encourage, train, support and educate ACCS students, parents and families who share in the common focus, value and importance of a classical Christian education in our culture. The ACCS scholarship provides a scholarship benefit for students choosing to continue their classical Christian education at ACU*.

Requirement: High school graduate from one of our ACCS affiliated schools.

  • Full-time on-campus student: $6,000 per year
  • Full-time off-campus student: $3,000 per year

Renewal: 2.0 ACU GPA

*Not stackable with Athletics or Honors scholarship packages.

 

Homeschool Scholarship

The ACU Homeschool Scholarship is designed to encourage, train, support, and educate homeschool/educated students, parents and families who share in the common focus, value and importance of a Christian education in our culture. The Homeschool Scholarship will also provide a scholarship benefit for students choosing to continue their Christian education at ACU*.

Requirement: High school graduate from a homeschool/educated family..

  • Full-time on-campus student: $6,000 per year
  • Full-time off-campus student: $3,000 per year

Renewal: 2.0 ACU GPA

*Not stackable with Athletics, Honors scholarship packages.

Church Matching Awards

In order to qualify for this award, students must receive financial sponsorship from a church. ACU will match up to $500 of church support per semester. The ACU Church Matching Application is required. Sponsorship checks should be payable to Arizona Christian University and attached to the application. If sponsoring for both Fall and Spring semesters, checks should be written separately for each semester (submitted in August and January).
