Applying for aid

File the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

File the FAFSA online here: www.fafsa.gov The FAFSA may be completed as early as January 1 of the year you plan to attend. This application determines your eligibility for federal grants and loans as well as need-based institutional aid. Be sure to list ACU (code 007113) on the FAFSA when prompted.

Financial Aid Verification

The Department of Education randomly selects students who have completed the FAFSA for a process called verification.

If you are selected for verification you will receive an email explaining which documents are needed. You may be asked to use the IRS Upload or request a tax transcript from the IRS. ACU’s financial aid verification process is completed entirely online through the verify my FAFSA system.

Award Letter

Your Financial Aid Award Letter includes all scholarships, grants, and student loans for which you qualify. Once your award letter is complete, it will be accessible by logging into the Student Portal. Let the Financial Aid Office know if you want to decline any of the aid you have been awarded.

Apply for Student Loans

If you decide to use loans you will need to complete the necessary steps to apply for loans. Loans cannot be disbursed until all steps are completed. Click here to read about different types of loans.
