With their focus on shaping virtuous citizens and pursuing moral and intellectual goodness in their kindergarten through 12th grade students, in addition to academic excellence, Great Hearts Academies is a natural partner for Arizona Christian University.

ACU’s Adriana Gruber recognized the overlapping missions of the two institutions as an employee of ACU and parent of three Great Hearts students. Gruber reached out to Roslyn Fletcher, Director of College Counseling for Great Hearts Arizona, and started the conversation.

Dr. Jennifer Russum, Dean of Academic Outreach, helped develop a dual enrollment program through ACU for Great Hearts Academies. Great Hearts high schoolers can now receive college credit through the program – the first of its kind for Great Hearts – and an average of more than 100 students signed up for the program in its first year. In addition, ACU held “Great Hearts Days” on campus to recognize Great Hearts college counselors and students and help acquaint them with the campus. As a direct result, seven students from Great Hearts schools joined ACU’s 2025-26 freshman class, from Chandler Prep, Cicero Prep, Glendale Prep and Scottsdale Prep.

ACU and Great Hearts Academies are planning a Great Hearts night at a Firestorm football or basketball game this fall, and the partnership is poised to continue to grow. ACU hopes to see many more Great Hearts graduates continue their pursuit of transforming culture with truth as students on ACU’s campus in the future.
