A Full-Circle Calling at Arizona Christian University

When Dr. Kyle DiRoberts walks into the classroom or stands behind the pulpit at chapel, he does so not only as a scholar and professor, but also as an alumnus whose heart beats deeply for Arizona Christian University. Now serving as the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Biblical and Theological Studies, Dr. DiRoberts has spent the last five years pouring into the institution that helped shape his own journey.

A native of Arizona, Dr. DiRoberts met his wife, Lolly, in their church’s junior high youth group. The two have been married for 15 years and are raising three sports-loving boys who spend much of their time on the baseball field or golf course. While family life is active and full, Dr. DiRoberts finds great joy and purpose in his role at ACU, calling it a “blessing” to be able to return to his alma mater—formerly Southwestern College—and invest in the next generation of Christian leaders.

One of his most memorable experiences at ACU is a lighthearted one: just before graduation two years ago, a student printed out large posters of his face and plastered them all over campus—including a massive cutout on top of the Tower Grill. But in more meaningful moments, he finds deep encouragement in hearing students recite the benediction at the close of chapel services. “There is something powerful about hearing our students speak truth over one another. It reminds me why we’re here,” he says.

Dr. DiRoberts notes that while ACU prepared him well for ministry, it’s the students who now impact him the most. “There is nothing better than being in the classroom or having a cup of coffee in my office with students discussing life and theology,” he shares. He’s especially grateful for the opportunities to mentor students who are preparing to speak in chapel, helping them shape their messages and find their voice as they share God’s Word with their peers.

That same spirit of mentorship and collaboration extends to his relationships with faculty colleagues. One such connection is with Dr. John DelHousaye, whose office is just steps away. “I love being able to pop into his office, drink some coffee, and talk theology, spiritual formation, or the New Testament,” says Dr. DiRoberts. “Some of the richest moments of learning and friendship happen right there—just a knock on the door away.”

Outside the classroom, Dr. DiRoberts is also a prolific writer. He has authored more than twenty articles and three books. His newest work, Grace Beyond Salvation: Revealing God’s Love from Genesis Through Revelation, recently released by Moody Publishers on July 1. “Writing for the church is one of my greatest joys,” he reflects.

In every role he fills—professor, mentor, author, husband, father—Dr. Kyle DiRoberts continues to live out a calling rooted in grace, grounded in truth, and shaped by the very community that first helped launch his journey.
