On Saturday October 8 ACU was honored to partner with Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers and community sponsors to host the 8th Annual Stand Up for Veterans event on our campus. Local veterans had the opportunity to meet with prospective employers, receive legal counseling and health screenings, get free haircuts and social services, obtain veterinary services for their pets, and even a complimentary lunch!

Thousands of veterans and volunteers were on campus for the event, making it the largest community outreach the University has hosted since moving to its new location in Glendale.

“We are mindful of the historic role that our campus, site of the Thunderbird Airfield, played in equipping thousands of young air cadets to help defeat the Axis Powers during World War II,” said ACU President Len Munsil. “ACU is honored to be recognized by the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services as a ‘Veteran Supportive Campus’ and to host this event as we continue our commitment to serve veterans and their families.”

ACU students played an integral role in support of the event as well, helping with setup the day before and in various roles on the day of the event. We are already looking forward to next year!
