Friday, May 7th will be remembered as a day of celebration . . . and for a charge from ACU President Len Munsil to build, plant, and multiply even during times of anxiety and uncertainty.
“Graduates,” he stated, “God chose you for this moment. He brought you to faith in Jesus, and brought you to ACU where that faith could be nourished, strengthened, encouraged and emboldened . . . God chose to launch you into the world at just this moment of high anxiety because you know not to be fearful . . . you are the light of the world. . . and when the light comes, the darkness flees.”
ACU professors, staff, family and friends celebrated the graduates’ accomplishments both in the classroom and the community.
At ACU, our students know they are part of a family. With small class sizes, they live and learn in community with their professors and fellow students. And during the 2021 commencement ceremony, they reflected on the gratitude they have for their Firestorm Family.
Graduating Business Major, JD Hamby stated, “My relationship with Christ has developed through community and the relationships at ACU . . . the Word talks about how God will bring people into your life . . . graduat[ing] with some of my best friends in the world is a testament to what the Lord has done, why he has brought me here.”
Graduating Music Major Devon Pasko reflected, “ACU has helped me grow closer to God, more than anything in my life . . . I’ve been able build my relationship with him in a genuine way”.
Arizona Supreme Court Justice Bill Montgomery delivered a stirring Commencement address, reminding graduates from his own life story not to allow their circumstances to dictate their outcome in life, and sharing the importance of his own faith in Christ.
President Munsil finished his charge to the Class of 2021 by saying: “We have watched you grow and overcome and persevere through all of the usual challenges and trials of life, plus a worldwide pandemic! And you have demonstrated that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. We are proud of you, and we are counting on you.”
Congratulations to the Class of 2021 at Arizona Christian University. We can’t wait to watch you go into the world to transform culture with truth!
