“… if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14.
“Father, on this National Day of Prayer, we thank you that we live in a nation that still – by official national and state proclamations – sets aside a day to honor you and to recognize our need for you. We thank you that we live in a nation with a heritage of private and public devotion to you, with days of thanksgiving and prayer and fasting going back to our founding. And yet today we recognize that as a people we have turned our backs on you. We have failed to recognize that all of these blessings we’ve received are from your hand. We’ve called good evil, and evil good. Today Lord we ask that you turn our hearts back to you. You’ve promised that if we return to you, you will return to us. We ask you to help us turn away from evil and wickedness, to truly love one another as you have loved us. Forgive us of our sins, we pray, and please dear God, heal our land. Amen.”
