“And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down and began to pray, saying, ‘Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.’ Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.” – Luke 22:41-43.

Here we see that Jesus, although fully God, was fully man. He can identify with everything we go through, up to and including desperate and passionate prayer that is not answered in the way we would desire. God will strengthen us to face trials and adversity that we pray to avoid. As we remember what Jesus did for us this week, we recognize that God’s plans and purpose may require us to experience pain. But He is always there, He is always good, and when we submit to Him we can do so with great confidence that His will is perfect.
