Bachelors in Music – String Performance

Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Music with concentration in String Performance is designed to equip students for advanced studies in string performance. This program will develop musicians for successful careers in varied job opportunities such as performing Artist, strings studio instructor, professional musician, educator, and church instrumentalist.

      What will I study?

      The String Performance program includes an innovative CORE General Studies program with integrated Biblical Studies minor. This unique program embraces a Biblical worldview of the Liberal Arts and prepares students to be influential thinkers. Career-related focus areas and courses will include:

      • Music Theory (co-requisites: Sight Singing/Dictation, Class Piano)
      • Music History
      • Essentials for Strings
      • Styles of String Performance
      • Methods I/II
      • String Literature Survey I/II
      • String Improvisation
      • String Pedagogy
      • Private Lessons
      • Music elective classes including Composition and Orchestration, Conducting, Music based Technology, etc.
      • Performance Ensembles: String Ensemble, Large String Ensemble (Pro Musica), Chorale, Praise Bands, Jazz Band, Pep Band, Musical Theatre, Drumline
