Parking

University Parking Procedures and Rules

All city and state motor vehicle laws and parking ordinances will be observed on campus.  Obey all parking campus codes, posted signs, and other areas designated as no parking zones such as NO PARKING or RESERVED.

Parking Rules

The purpose of our University’s parking rules are to provide accurate parking information, maximize the use of available parking space, pedestrian mobility, and contribute to a safe campus environment for the University community and guests visiting our campus. A parking permit allows for the operator of the vehicle the privilege not the right to park on campus.

Parking permits are mandatory for all students and staff who park on University property or property managed by Arizona Christian University. The Department of Campus Safety issues all parking permits. Parking permits are issued to the operator of the vehicle (including motorcycles and mopeds) after the operator completes their University’s Vehicle Registration. All students shall obtain a new parking permit before the start of the fall semester between August 1st and August 31st. All students new and transfer students in January shall obtain a new parking permit before the start of the spring semester between January 2nd and January 15th. Students and staff shall replace parking permits within 24 hours when a windshield has been replaced, the driver obtains a new vehicle, or when permits are lost or stolen.

Students are able to register their vehicle online, or use the QR Codes posted on campus during the registration process of move-in week. Students may also visit the Campus Safety office to register their vehicle. Students, staff, faculty, adjuncts, and volunteers must pick up their Parking Permit in the office of Campus Safety Building 1100 located in the south west area of the campus northeast of the N. 59 Ave and W. Country Gables entrance. Arizona Christian University does not charge a parking fee for parking permits unless the parking permit is lost. The cost to replace lost parking permits will be $5.00. Failure to register your vehicle and display a University parking decal will result in a parking administrative fee of $100.00.

Enforcement

Students, staff, faculty, and adjuncts are subject to all ACU rules, city ordinances, and state laws related to operating and parking of a motor vehicles while on university property. It is the responsibility of the operator of the motor vehicle or motorcycle to know the state laws, city ordinances, and university parking rules. The use of emergency signals, personal placards, hand notes, etc. are not a valid excuse for violating any city ordinances, state laws, or university parking rules.

It does not imply university parking rules, city ordinances, or state laws are no longer in effect when a violation notice is not issued to a violator. Students, staff, faculty, adjuncts, and guests are subject to enforcement by the Department of Campus Safety, city, state, and county law enforcement officers.

Students, staff, faculty, adjuncts, and guests can expect a reasonable expectation of privacy regarding personal property contained in their vehicle when parked on campus. However vehicles are subject to being searched when there is reasonable suspicion or exigent circumstances relating to the violation of ACU’s student or staff handbook (illegal drugs, firearms, other weapons, etc.), health and safety concerns, or the welfare of an individual. Refusing to allow the search will result in the student, staff, faculty, adjunct or guest’s parking privileges being revoked, and the vehicle, driver, and occupants will be trespassed from university property. Students and staff agree to these rules being a current or past student or staff member. Students and staff refusing to comply with campus rules are subject to disciplinary action.

Arizona Christian University reserves the right to set aside parking spaces, temporarily block, or redirect traffic or parking for special events. This may cause students, staff, faculty, or adjuncts to park in the overflow parking areas.

Enforcement of the campus parking rules are enforced year round, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. ACU reserves the right to terminate parking privileges at any time without cause. ACU reserves the right to tow vehicles from university property when vehicles have been abandoned on university property. ACU reserves the right to place a car boot on vehicles not registered with ACU Campus Safety, and in violation of a secondary parking violation. University parking rules are subject to change at any time. ACU’s Department of Campus Safety may provide updates via social media, internet, or email.
