Arizona Christian University is excited to announce the 3rd Annual Firestorm Film Festival, Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at The Picture Show at Paradise Valley Mall at 7 p.m.

The Firestorm Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing the capstone work of Arizona Christian University Communication majors who have chosen film as their area of emphasis. Each student has authored an original screenplay and directed his or her own short film as part of the coursework requirements. The festival will showcase the talents of student filmmakers as well as provide financial support for future student films. Join us for a night at the movies and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the following senior Communication majors: Brandon Vogt, Justin Meier, and Angelica Webb.

“The vast number of new films being made that contain Christian storylines or biblical themes demonstrates that Christians are making more inroads into Hollywood, but there’s more work to be done. Many Christian films are not well received,” said Dr. Paul Creasman, Chair of the Department of Communication and English. “We want to train young filmmakers to make movies and tell stories that will first, engage the viewer as an artful piece of communication, but also engage audiences with a truthful message about the life of faith. The film festival represents the first step in what will hopefully be a life-long pursuit by our students of sharing Christian truth through the medium of film.”

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for seating and the films will begin promptly at 7 p.m. This is a free formal event for the student filmmakers, their cast, and crew. All are invited to support ACU senior Communication students as they present their final projects.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. Contact Adam Sonstroem at [email protected] for more information.
